Sarah Medina Newmarket Header

As the “Heart of York Region,” Newmarket is strategically situated right in the centre of this flourishing community. Newmarket is the smallest municipality in the Heart of York Region, but has a higher population density than many neighbouring municipalities. The Holland River provides picturesque streetscapes and plenty of parkland as it winds its way through the neighbourhood.

Much of the housing development currently taking place in Newmarket is located just along the Yonge Street corridor where you will find a good mix of detached, and semi-detached houses and townhomes as well as low and mid-rise condominiums.

The historical downtown Main Street provides plenty of shopping and dining opportunities and is lined with locally owned shops and restaurants. Upper Canada Mall is Newmarket’s largest shopping mall, operating 225 stores and services and is anchored by: The Bay, Sears, Toys ‘R’ Us and Zellers.

York Region Transit operates bus service along Newmarket’s major streets while GO Transit provides a link to downtown Toronto’s Union Station. Go bus service from Newmarket connects to the Finch subway station on the Toronto Transit line.

Highway 404 which runs along Newmarket’s eastern border, provides a direct passage into the City of Toronto, and links up with Highway 401, which spans the Greater Toronto Area.
